“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, To set at liberty those who are oppressed…” Luke 4:18
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Cor 4:4
Jesus often gave sight to literal blind people but He also opens spiritual eyes.
When Saul encountered Jesus in Acts 9, the Bible says that “suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He [Saul] fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Saul had been living in the dark and was completely blind. He was persecuting Christians, while believing that he was pleasing God! Talk about being completely deceived and blind! Suddenly, on his way to Damascus, a bright light appeared to him and Jesus spoke to him. Saul’s blinders fell off and he could clearly see and hear the voice of Jesus speaking to him.
This is what our family, friends, and neighbors need-a removal of the blinders that hinder them from seeing the Light!
Prayer:
Jesus, remove the blinders from the eyes of the unbelievers around me- my family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and all who don’t know Jesus! May they encounter Him and SEE who Jesus truly is!
